Do you think you could every happily drink blood? No? How about if it was in cupcake form? I challenge you to not find these bloody creations mouth-watering.
Wet Paint features these blood splashed red velvet cupcakes (the vampire flavour of choice). It’s simple but effective, and the presentation on the plate is genius!

A very popular way to decorate a ‘vampire cupcake’ is to have make it look like a vampire bite with blood pouring out. I’ve not seen it done so well as these cupcakes by Sweet Avenue Bake Shop. Instead of the classic red velvet, they’ve gone for their own cherry liqueur flavour. If I lived near Rutherford I’d be right down there to buy my own!

A variation of this design is one that includes penny sweet fangs dripping with blood, or strawberry sauce. Simply Gluten Free not only created these, but have included a gluten free recipe with instructions for you to try at home.

If you would like the people eating your cakes to feel like vampires themselves, why not fill your cupcakes with a strawberry or cherry filling. Carly put this photo up on her blog Lightning Bug Watch Party. She has included links for recipes and instructions for filling the cupcake.

If you enjoy creating designs with sugarpaste, this is an effective idea in incorporating the fangs again. Baking and Caking on Flickr decorated this red and black wonder.

On a slightly different theme, how about making these vampire bat cupcakes with chocolate wings, as featured on the Ifood Blog.
