Perfectly done, but reasonably simple – these cupcake decorations are made of only a few shapes cut out of sugapaste and a little blick piping icing. They are featured on Daily Easy Food Recipes

Here is one made with just piping icing, I love the criss-cross technique of the pink icing. Although I haven’t tried this cupcake decorating idea myself, it seems this could be one of the easiest options for making Hello Kitty Cupcakes. Michelle at i heart baking made these ones.

Everyone has a favourite dinosaur, and it’s not just the kids. So if you are faced with a dinosaur themed birthday party, try getting your teeth into some of these cupcake decorating ideas:

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…… Happy New Year!!! No matter what the year, the celebrations are the same, friends, family, food, drink, fireworks and a countdown to the stroke of midnight.
The key word for us there being food – and if you’re reading this blog, then you’re obviously thinking “cupcakes!” – so lets see what New Year’s Eve Cupcake Decorating Ideas there are out there:
So simple but eye catching and perfect for the occasion. It’s more and more common to find these small indoor sparklers in the party section of shops. This colourful cupcake is featured on Cupcakes Taste Nice

If you have a little more time to spare, why not try this firework cupcake design featured on Daily Easy Food Recipes. It seems the cupcake is covered in black sugarpaste and the fireworks have been painted on with metallic food colouring (possibly luster dust mixed with a little vodka to make paint)

If cupcakes are the food for celebration, and champagne is the drink of celebration, then why not bring them together like Cupcake Woman has done with this sugarcraft bottle in buttercream and sugar pearl bubbles.

Getting a bit trickier – and time for the sugarpaste skills. These cupcakes are by Happiness In A Bite – I love the party streamers, and obviously you can change the year to which ever applies at the point of reading.

Combining pretty much all the elements of the other cupcakes we have this cupcake, which must have been very time consuming, but worth it. There are some serious sugarcraft skills at work here, and by the looks of it, some gold plating has been used too. This creation is by AbbieTabbie.

As if you haven’t planned enough food for Christmas already, you’ve come here to look for Christmas Cupcake Decorating Ideas? Good on you! Every occasion needs cupcakes for that extra sparkle, so take a look at these ideas which are great for beginners through to the more advanced.
Now I’m starting with these decorations by An A for Effort - they may be on cookies, but this design will easily transfer to the top of cupcakes. It should be easy to find the same sweets or similar to make the faces with. This person has used black icing for the eyes, but if you don’t have any, a couple of raisins or currents will do.

Here’s a cute idea for some 3D snowman cupcakes by Martha Stewart. The body is made of marshmallows, the hat a chocolate covered sweet, the eyes are chocolate sprinkles and the nose is cut from a gummy sweet.

I think this little fella is my favourite, the blue sprinkle hat looks great with the piped icing trimming. This cupcake was made by Created by Diane

Here is a cupcake that is using lots of different techniques to make a really yummy looking snowman. With a buttercream body, a marshmallow head and an Oreo hat – there is something for everyone. Created by the Vallee Cake Company.

So if you are more advanced with your sugarcraft, why not try something like this from Chocolate Recipes. The snowflake is made with a sugarcraft cutter, the snowman is made with a lot of patience.

Now, I this is an interesting post for me to do as I am not American, therefore I have never celebrated Thanksgiving. However, given how much I love Christmas dinner, I do feel like I’m missing out! As if you’re not getting enough food on the day, take a look to see if you fancy recreating any of these cupcake decorating ideas.
First we have these cute cupcakes turned into turkeys using candy corn (which I have also never had!). They are by Cakemuffingirl on Flickr

Then we have these beautiful little pumpkin topped frosting spirals upon cupcakes. The pumpkin looks like it is made of sugarpaste with a green swirl of royal icing from a piping bag. You could use a Jaffa (Cadburys chocolate) for the pumpkin if they are available in your country. By apuch on Flickr

This is a mini stroke of genius, using a Reece’s peanut butter cup and Oreo cookie base to make a Pilgrim Hat. Not only has easycupcakes made them, but they have also provided instructions so that you can bake these cupcakes yourself!

More complicated, but more effective, these sugarpaste turkey cupcakes are by Epiphanycupcakes

Call it what you like, but this is a great time to brave a cold night in front of a bonfire, watching fireworks with friends and family. Only cupcakes can make it better, so try some of these decorations:
The bonfire is the main focus of attraction, so why not make your own edible versions in cupcake form. These simple cupcakes with chocolate matchsticks as logs were an idea created by someone on the Money Saving Expert Forum

I think these fire cupcakes are so effective for a technique which is reasonably simple. There are a couple of ways to do two tone icing. You can try painting food colouring into the piping bag before putting another colour frosting inside, or simply mixing a couple of batches of colours and alternating spoonful’s of colour into the piping bag. Here’s one to make with the kids, buttercream and royal icing swirls, covered in all the sparkly sprinkles you can find. These are by cakebysugar on Flickr.

With a similar technique, but a little more time and care, you can draw classic firework designs onto your cupcake using sprinkles to enhance the explosions. It’ scary how simple these ghost cupcakes can be. Even young children can help you out in the kitchen with some of these cupcake ideas.
Cupcake KITCHen has a beautifully simple way to make the cupcakes look like ghostly faces. You can use simple royal icing or a vanilla buttercream frosting, before piping these faces on once it’s dry.
Very similar cupcakes are these ghost high hats by Bakingdom. Instructions for these cupcakes have been provided on their website.

A very cute version of these high hat ghosts, is this picture as featured by I AM THE CUPCAKE MONKEY of a little family of ghosts sitting on a cupcake.

With a little rolled icing and some royal icing you can make these flat topped ghost cupcakes. People at your Halloween party will be delighted to find your home made cupcakes underneath. These are by KABOOSE who has also provided a recipe for these cupcakes.

Finally, and my favourite, this cute little fella, perched on a mound of buttercream. Simple but effective. I think I’d also try and slip a marshmallow under his sheet as an added bonus to the cupcake eater. I found the picture of this flying ghost on mulatto diaries.

Do you think you could every happily drink blood? No? How about if it was in cupcake form? I challenge you to not find these bloody creations mouth-watering.
Wet Paint features these blood splashed red velvet cupcakes (the vampire flavour of choice). It’s simple but effective, and the presentation on the plate is genius!

A very popular way to decorate a ‘vampire cupcake’ is to have make it look like a vampire bite with blood pouring out. I’ve not seen it done so well as these cupcakes by Sweet Avenue Bake Shop. Instead of the classic red velvet, they’ve gone for their own cherry liqueur flavour. If I lived near Rutherford I’d be right down there to buy my own!

A variation of this design is one that includes penny sweet fangs dripping with blood, or strawberry sauce. Simply Gluten Free not only created these, but have included a gluten free recipe with instructions for you to try at home.

If you would like the people eating your cakes to feel like vampires themselves, why not fill your cupcakes with a strawberry or cherry filling. Carly put this photo up on her blog Lightning Bug Watch Party. She has included links for recipes and instructions for filling the cupcake.

If you enjoy creating designs with sugarpaste, this is an effective idea in incorporating the fangs again. Baking and Caking on Flickr decorated this red and black wonder.

Cupcakes are always a welcome addition to any baby shower, and if they’re decorated with a baby theme then they get the extra “coo” factor.
The Cupcake Blog features these cute cupcakes for a baby shower. Sometimes you will find yourself in the position where you don’t know if it is a girl or boy – so yellow is the ideal colour to go for to be safe. It looks like these are real safety pins, which look so cute, but make sure people know not to devour the cupcake in one without removing them!

Oh Crumbs Cupcakes have made these beautiful little blue and pink numbers. I love the idea of coloured frosting with white motifs.

Party Cupcake Ideas features these pink baby girl cupcakes with little butterflies. Some sugarcraft skills required, but the components are not too difficult, so could be a good challenge for a beginner.

These cute teddy bear cupcakes could be done in any colour like pink or yellow. They’re by Simply Sweets who also has some ideas for cookies and other sweet treats.

How about these classy chocolate unisex baby cupcakes? They’re by Martha Stewart and they’ll need a steady hand! A cupcake for a more sophisticated baby shower.
