Call it what you like, but this is a great time to brave a cold night in front of a bonfire, watching fireworks with friends and family. Only cupcakes can make it better, so try some of these decorations:
The bonfire is the main focus of attraction, so why not make your own edible versions in cupcake form. These simple cupcakes with chocolate matchsticks as logs were an idea created by someone on the Money Saving Expert Forum
I think these fire cupcakes are so effective for a technique which is reasonably simple. There are a couple of ways to do two tone icing. You can try painting food colouring into the piping bag before putting another colour frosting inside, or simply mixing a couple of batches of colours and alternating spoonful’s of colour into the piping bag. These are by Dozen Cupcakes

Here’s one to make with the kids, buttercream and royal icing swirls, covered in all the sparkly sprinkles you can find. These are by cakebysugar on Flickr.

With a similar technique, but a little more time and care, you can draw classic firework designs onto your cupcake using sprinkles to enhance the explosions. These are from the book Cupcake Magic, which is a wonderful little book I’d highly recommend. Please click the link below this post to see where you can get this book on Amazon.

If you have some extra time to spend with the sugarpaste, have a look at these cupcakes by Cake Lady Hinkley on Flickr. I love the Oohs and Ahhs, with the use of Flakes as logs of wood
